The University of North Carolina Greensboro seeks an Associate Dean for Academic Affairs — an individual with exceptional abilities in administration and long-range strategic planning with an outstanding record in an area of performance, research, and/or pedagogy in one of the College of Visual and Performing Arts’ (CVPA’s) disciplines. Reporting to the Dean, the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs works as a collaborative member of CVPA’s senior administrative leadership team, is a creative problem-solver and enrollment manager, and is responsible for all academic matters within the college. This position interfaces directly and with all CVPA full-time and part-time faculty, senior administrative staff, and the student success team. The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs is responsible for oversight of degree program requirements, course scheduling, and classroom assignments. And with the Director of Undergraduate Advising and Student Success and Director of Undergraduate Recruitment is responsible for various aspects of the recruitment and admissions process and working with the Assistant Dean for Budget and Operations for administration of graduate assistantships across the college. In addition, there is regular interaction with individuals in the University’s central administration. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: managing all aspects of academic integrity and academic life at CVPA; providing oversight to the CVPA Curriculum Committee; maintaining degree requirements and supervising revisions thereof; approving all requirement exceptions for specific students and certifying students for graduation; monitoring student performance and handling student concerns including Title IX – student-to-student issues; aiding with reaccreditation for the four schools; working in close consultation with the Dean and Executive Council of the college in representing the college to other constituents as well as serving on various ad hoc university committees and taskforces as appropriate; and managing the faculty information manual and master documents repository system. Direct reports include the Director of Undergraduate Advising and Student Success, Director of Recruitment, and Instructional Technology Consultant.
